Solar Installer

Sunrun is hiring a Solar Installer for residential solar projects in Bloomington, IL. The role works as part of an installation construction team alongside a Foreperson and Lead Installer. The company offers cross-training through its Power+ program to build skills across qualifying, installing, inspecting, and servicing systems.

Responsibilities

• Ensure personal, crew, and job site safety at all times and participate in training on new products, installation methods, and safety procedures.
• Review inventory at the loading dock to confirm the assigned crew truck is adequately stocked.
• Complete layout and assemble solar modules, racking, mechanical and structural mounts, and electrical equipment and tools according to the project plan.
• Apply weather sealing to roofing structures, buildings, or support mechanisms.
• Perform project cleanup at the client site and in the installation vehicle to maintain an orderly work environment.

Requirements

• Previous solar, construction, or military experience preferred but not required.
• Adhere to company safety policies and procedures, including identifying and reporting safety hazards.
• Ability to transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balancing.
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights while using fall protection harnesses and other personal protective equipment.
• Ability to work in outdoor conditions including excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environments, and humidity.
• Ability to perform fine motor skills with hands, including fine manipulation, grasping, and pinching.
• Ability to work and maintain balance on roofs, rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles.
• Ability to work in the sun, low light conditions, and confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces that require kneeling and crouching.
• Ability to distinguish colors such as red, black, yellow, white, and green.
• Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings.
• Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protections.
