Job Description
Sunrun seeks a Solar Installer for residential PV installation projects in Austin, TX. This position is part of a vertically integrated solar and battery company, working as a core member of an installation construction team alongside forepersons and lead installers.
About the Role
As a Solar Installer, you will perform hands-on assembly, mounting, and electrical work on residential solar installations. You'll work collaboratively with your crew to complete projects safely and efficiently, with opportunities to cross-train across installation, inspection, and service roles to build long-term career stability in the residential solar industry.
Responsibilities
- Maintain personal, crew, and job site safety; participate in training on products, installation methodology, and safety protocols
- Conduct inventory checks at loading dock to ensure crew truck is properly stocked
- Complete layout and assembly of solar modules, racking, mechanical and structural mounts, and electrical equipment per project specifications
- Apply weather sealing to roofing structures and support mechanisms
- Perform project cleanup of client site and installation vehicles
- Identify and report safety hazards; encourage safe work practices among crew members
Requirements
- Previous solar, construction, or military experience preferred but not required
- Demonstrated commitment to company safety policies and hazard identification
- Ability to transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds with assistance
- Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, and balance work
- Ability to climb ladders and work safely at heights with fall protection equipment
- Ability to work outdoors in excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet conditions, and humidity
- Fine motor skills for manipulation, grasping, and pinching required
- Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces
- Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings
- Ability to distinguish colors including red, black, yellow, white, and green
- Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protective equipment
- Courteous and professional demeanor with customers and coworkers
- Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based environment
