Job Description
Pearce Services seeks an Advanced Solar Field Service Technician for operations and maintenance work at solar energy sites near Becker, Minnesota. This role involves preventative and corrective maintenance of utility-scale solar equipment, troubleshooting, and documentation in compliance with established safety and operational standards.
About the Role
You will perform field service work supporting the operation and maintenance of solar power plants in the Pearce Renewables Solar Operations and Maintenance Division. Candidates must reside within approximately 50 miles of Becker, Minnesota, and be available for on-call service support, including potential weekend and holiday work.
Responsibilities
- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on solar utility and substation equipment
- Troubleshoot and test installed solar equipment to ensure proper operation
- Use diagnostic tools including digital multimeters, meggers, and amp clamps for electrical diagnostics
- Perform Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) procedures
- Complete work orders, time logs, inventory control documentation, and emergency schedules
- Operate and maintain motor vehicles safely and in compliance with company and insurance requirements
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Train and mentor laborers into apprenticeship roles as needed
Requirements
- 2+ years of commercial or industrial operations and maintenance experience on solar power plants (preferred)
- Preventative maintenance experience on solar utility equipment (preferred)
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and installation skills
- Specific experience with inverters, tracker systems, or substation equipment such as TMEIC, SMA, Sungrow, Nextracker, or ATI (preferred)
- Ability to comply with OSHA standards
- Capacity to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to work outdoors in ambient temperatures
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
- Residence within approximately 50 miles of Becker, Minnesota
- Strong work ethic and high aptitude for the technical aspects of the role
