Job Description
SOLV Energy seeks a Solar Field Service Technician (Level 1) for full-time fieldwork at a utility-scale solar facility in Grantsville, UT. This position involves maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of solar equipment under supervision while maintaining strict safety standards.
About the Role
You will support operations at a utility-scale solar plant, performing field maintenance and learning industry-standard safe work practices. This is a full-time on-site position; specific location details and scheduling expectations will be discussed during the interview process.
Responsibilities
- Perform field maintenance and basic troubleshooting of solar equipment under direct supervision
- Conduct testing and monitoring of solar systems using company monitoring programs
- Replace or repair solar parts and equipment as directed
- Operate and maintain company property, tools, and equipment
- Respond on-call to emergency equipment repairs as directed by supervisor
- Document all work performed and complete required field reports accurately
- Follow safe work practices at all times and seek guidance on unfamiliar tasks
- Identify and properly perform Lock Out/Tag Out procedures on energized systems
- Assess processes and suggest improvements; collaborate with EPC management on implementation
- Complete additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (vocational/technical training preferred)
- Demonstrated experience or formal training in mechanical/electrical environments
- Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Basic knowledge of solar installation and plant operations
- Basic knowledge of testing equipment
- Ability to identify and perform Lock Out/Tag Out of energized parts and systems
- NFPA 70E Safety Training certification (must obtain if not already certified)
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record and ability to operate company vehicles
- Ability to work in remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)
- Ability to work on an on-call basis, including weekends and after-hours
- Up to 10% travel for training, certifications, and site coverage
- Proficiency in basic computer operation
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Effective English language communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong organizational skills
- Frequent stooping, bending, crouching, reaching, and lifting 50 lbs. or more
- Constant ability to see details at close and distant range, hear, speak, and maintain depth perception
- Occasional climbing and carrying; ability to work in high, exposed, or difficult-to-access places
- Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and tolerate high noise levels
- Occasional exposure to weather, dust, fumes, electric shock, radiation, and toxic/caustic chemicals
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship

Compensation: $25.02–$31.27 per hour
