Job Description
SOLV Energy seeks a Solar Field Service Technician (Level 1) for full-time work at a utility-scale solar facility in Castle Dale, UT. In this entry-level position, you will perform field maintenance and troubleshooting on solar equipment while developing safe work practices under supervision.
About the Role
This is a site-based role focused on learning and executing maintenance tasks at a utility-scale solar installation. You will work under direct supervision, gaining hands-on experience with solar equipment, testing protocols, and industry safety standards. The position includes on-call responsibilities for emergency equipment repairs as assigned by your supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Perform field maintenance and service on solar equipment at multiple solar plants under supervision
- Execute basic solar equipment testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks using monitoring programs
- Replace or repair solar parts and equipment under supervision
- Operate and maintain company property, equipment, and tooling
- Respond to on-call requests for emergency equipment repairs
- Complete accurate documentation and work reports for all tasks performed
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and coordinate with management on implementation
- Prioritize safety in all work activities and follow all safe work practices
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent (vocational/technical training preferred)
- Demonstrated experience working in mechanical or electrical environments through formal training or prior work
- Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Ability to identify and perform Lock Out/Tag Out of energized parts and systems
- Basic knowledge of solar installations and plants
- Basic knowledge of testing equipment
- NFPA 70E Safety Training certification (must obtain)
- Basic computer operation skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Effective verbal and written English communication
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record and ability to operate company vehicles
- Ability to work at remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)
- Availability for on-call work, including weekends and after-hours situations
- Willingness to travel up to 10% for training, certifications, and site coverage
- Frequent stooping, bending, crouching, reaching, and lifting 50 lbs. or more
- Constant finger dexterity and ability to see details at close and distance ranges, hear, speak, and maintain depth perception
- Occasional climbing, carrying, and working in high or difficult-to-access locations
- Tolerance for noise, vibration, dust, fumes, and exposure to harsh outdoor conditions
