Job Description

The Solar Field Service Technician, Level 1 role at SOLV Energy is a full-time onsite position at a jobsite in Castle Dale, UT. The position focuses on field maintenance for utility-scale solar and battery storage projects, with duties performed under supervision while completing required safety and technical training. SOLV Energy designs, builds, and maintains utility-scale solar, battery storage, and high-voltage substation projects nationwide.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safe work practices and seek guidance on unfamiliar tasks to maintain safety
  • Operate and maintain company property, equipment, and tooling
  • Service solar equipment across multiple solar plants under supervision
  • Perform basic solar equipment testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance using monitoring programs under supervision
  • Replace or repair solar parts and equipment under supervision
  • Respond to on-call requests for emergency equipment repairs as directed
  • Prepare accurate documentation and reports of completed work
  • Assess processes and coordinate with EPC management on suggested improvements and new technologies

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent; vocational or technical training a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a mechanical or electrical environment through formal training or prior work experience
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to identify and perform effective Lock Out/Tag Out of energized parts or systems
  • Basic understanding of solar installation or plant operations
  • Basic knowledge of testing equipment and computer operation skills
  • NFPA 70e Safety Training certification
  • Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record and ability to operate company vehicle
  • Ability to work at remote locations in extreme weather conditions including heat, cold, and inclement weather
  • Ability to work on-call basis, including weekends or after-hours
  • Ability to travel up to 10% for training, certifications, and site coverage
  • Occasional exposure to weather, harsh outdoor environments, vibration, dust, fumes, electric shock, radiation, and toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Frequent stooping, bending, crouching, reaching, handling, finger dexterity, sitting, standing, walking, and lifting 50 lbs. or more
  • Constant finger dexterity, close-range and distance vision, hearing, talking, and depth perception
  • Occasional climbing, carrying, proximity to moving mechanical parts, and work in high, exposed, or difficult-to-access locations
  • High noise intensity level may be present
