Job Description

SOLV Energy seeks a Solar Field Service Technician (Level 1) for a full-time position at a utility-scale solar facility in Lemoore, CA. This role involves learning and executing field maintenance, equipment servicing, and troubleshooting under supervision while maintaining strict safety standards.

About the Role

You will work on-site at a utility-scale solar plant, performing maintenance and repair tasks on solar equipment and battery storage systems. The position emphasizes safety as a primary responsibility, with work conducted under direct supervision as you develop technical proficiency and advance your skills in the solar energy sector.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain focus on safety compliance and ensure all work practices align with industry safety standards
  • Operate, maintain, and care for company equipment, tools, and property
  • Service solar equipment at the facility under supervision
  • Perform basic testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of solar equipment using monitoring programs
  • Replace or repair solar components and equipment under supervision
  • Respond to on-call requests for emergency equipment repairs as directed
  • Document work performed and complete required reports
  • Identify process improvements and collaborate with EPC management on technology implementation
  • Complete other assigned responsibilities

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (vocational/technical training preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience or formal training in mechanical and electrical environments
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to identify and perform Lock Out/Tag Out procedures on energized equipment
  • Basic knowledge of solar installation and plant operations
  • Basic knowledge of electrical testing equipment
  • Basic computer operation skills
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions effectively
  • NFPA 70e Safety Training certification (must obtain)
  • Commitment to maintaining current safety and technical certifications
  • Fluent verbal and written English communication
  • Organizational skills and ability to work at remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)
  • Willingness to work on-call, including weekends and after-hours
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record and ability to operate company vehicles
  • Frequent stooping, bending, crouching, reaching, and handling; ability to lift 50 lbs. or more regularly
  • Constant finger dexterity, close-range and distance vision, hearing, verbal communication, and depth perception
  • Occasional climbing and carrying; ability to work in high, exposed, or difficult-to-access locations
  • Tolerance for high noise levels and occasional exposure to weather, dust, fumes, vibration, electric shock, radiation, and toxic/caustic chemicals
  • Up to 10% travel for training, certifications, and site coverage
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship

Compensation: $25.02–$31.27 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
