Job Description

SOLV Energy seeks a Solar Field Service Technician (Level 1) for a full-time position on a utility-scale solar project site in Coulterville, IL. You will perform field maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and repairs on solar installations under direct supervision while developing expertise in solar O&M practices and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field maintenance and service on solar equipment across multiple solar plants under supervisor direction
  • Conduct basic solar equipment testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks using monitoring programs
  • Replace or repair solar components and equipment under supervision
  • Operate and maintain company property, equipment, and tools
  • Respond on-call to assist with emergency equipment repairs as directed
  • Document work performed and complete required field reports
  • Assess processes and collaborate with EPC management on technology improvements
  • Prioritize safe work practices and seek guidance on unfamiliar tasks
  • Travel up to 10% for training, certifications, and additional site coverage

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Demonstrated experience working in mechanical or electrical environments through formal training or prior work
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to identify and perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) of energized equipment
  • Basic knowledge of solar plant operations and installation
  • Basic knowledge of testing equipment
  • Basic computer operation skills
  • NFPA 70E Safety Training certification (must obtain)
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record and ability to operate company vehicles
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)
  • Ability to work on-call basis, including weekends and after-hours situations
  • Frequent stooping, bending, crouching, reaching, and handling; constant finger dexterity and close-range vision
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more regularly
  • Occasional climbing and work in high, exposed, or difficult-to-access locations
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship
