Job Description
SOLV Energy, a utility-scale solar and battery storage infrastructure provider, is hiring a Solar Field Service Technician – Level 2 for full-time onsite work at a facility in Cantil, CA. This role focuses on field maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of solar PV systems and electrical equipment, with responsibility for diagnosing issues using monitoring platforms, supervising Level 1 technicians, and maintaining detailed service records.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of solar PV equipment and systems with minimal or no supervision
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical systems on solar installations using basic electrical testing equipment
- Use system monitoring applications (Locus, QOS, Vitals, RTDB, or equivalent platforms) to identify issues and determine corrective actions
- Conduct equipment PM inspections and document corrective actions via the Sprocket system
- Accurately track time and material costs for all work performed
- Operate and maintain records for all service equipment used
- Provide on-call service at assigned solar facilities, including weekends and after-hours availability
- Supervise and provide ongoing training to Solar Technician Level 1 employees
- Create and complete service tickets from start to finish, documenting work performed and materials used in the Sprocket system
- Assess safety hazards and issue Stop Work orders when necessary
- Identify and implement process improvements and collaborate on new technologies
- Prepare accurate documentation and reports of all work completed
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (vocational/technical training a plus)
- Valid OSHA 30 certification
- Valid NFPA 70E Safety Training certification
- Demonstrated knowledge of Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures for energized electrical parts and systems
- Demonstrated understanding of safe electrical and mechanical practices
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic electrical testing and troubleshooting equipment
- Ability to identify energized and de-energized electrical parts and all incoming power sources
- Ability to recognize work hazards and mitigate using proper tools and procedures
- Basic computer operation skills; ability to operate system monitoring applications
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record and ability to operate company vehicles
- Ability to work at remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)
- Ability to work on an on-call basis including weekends and after-hours
- Current and ongoing compliance with all safety and technical training requirements
