Solar Field Service Technician (Ramsey, IL)

SOLV Energy seeks a Solar Field Service Technician (Level 1) for full-time, on-site work at a utility-scale solar facility in Ramsey, IL. You will perform field maintenance and equipment service under supervision while developing proficiency in solar industry safety practices and technical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform field maintenance and service on solar equipment across multiple plants under direct supervision
• Conduct basic solar equipment testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks using monitoring programs
• Replace or repair solar parts and equipment under supervision
• Execute Lock Out/Tag Out procedures on energized parts and systems
• Respond on-call as directed to assist with emergency equipment repairs
• Document and prepare reports of work performed
• Operate and maintain company property, equipment, and tooling
• Identify process improvements and collaborate with EPC management on implementation

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Demonstrated ability to work in mechanical/electrical environments through formal training or prior work experience
• Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Basic understanding of solar installation and plant operations
• Basic knowledge of testing equipment
• Basic computer operation skills
• NFPA 70e Safety Training certification (must obtain)
• Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record
• Ability to operate company vehicles
• Ability to work in remote locations and extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)
• Ability to work on-call basis, including weekends and after-hours
• Willingness to travel up to 10% for training, certifications, and site coverage
• Frequent stooping, bending, crouching, reaching, and handling; constant finger dexterity and close-range/distance vision
• Occasional climbing, carrying, and work in high, exposed, or difficult-to-access locations
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more regularly
• Exposure to outdoor harsh environments, vibration, dust, fumes, electric shock, radiation, and toxic/caustic chemicals
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship
