Job Description

SOLV Energy seeks a Solar Field Service Technician (Level 1) for full-time, on-site work at a utility-scale solar facility in Livermore, CA. You will perform field maintenance, equipment service, and troubleshooting under supervision while learning and practicing safe work protocols across solar plants. This role emphasizes safety as the primary responsibility and includes on-call emergency response availability.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain safe work practices and adhere to all safety procedures while performing field tasks
  • Service solar equipment across multiple solar plants under direct supervision
  • Perform basic solar equipment testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance using monitoring programs
  • Replace or repair solar parts and equipment under supervision
  • Respond on-call to assist in emergency equipment repairs as directed
  • Document work performed and complete required field reports accurately
  • Operate and maintain company property, equipment, and tooling
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and collaborate on new technologies with EPC management

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (vocational/technical school training preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a mechanical/electrical environment through formal training or previous work experience
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to identify and perform Lock Out/Tag Out of energized parts and systems
  • Basic understanding of solar installations and plants
  • Basic knowledge of testing equipment and operation
  • Basic computer operation skills
  • NFPA 70e Safety Training certification required; must remain current in all safety and technical trainings
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record and ability to operate company vehicles
  • Ability to work on-call, including weekends and after-hours situations
  • Ability to work at remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)
  • Physical capability to frequently stoop, bend, crouch, reach, handle, and lift 50 lbs. or more
  • Ability to climb, work at heights, and access difficult locations
  • Constant finger dexterity; ability to see details at close and distant range; ability to hear, talk, and possess depth perception
  • Tolerance for occasional exposure to harsh outdoor environments, vibration, dust, fumes, electric shock, radiation, and toxic/caustic chemicals
  • Ability to work in high noise intensity environments
