Job Description

Pearce Services seeks an Advanced Solar Field Service Technician (Operations and Maintenance) to support solar power plant sites near San Jose, California. The role focuses on operations and maintenance activities for utility-scale solar equipment in the Renewables division. Candidates must reside within approximately 50 miles of San Jose.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on solar utility and sub-station equipment.
  • Maintain documentation such as work orders, time logs, inventory records, and emergency schedules.
  • Troubleshoot electrical components using digital multi-meters, meggers, amp clamps, and related tools.
  • Test and verify proper operation of installed solar equipment including inverters, tracker systems, and sub-station components.
  • Apply Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) during all site activities.
  • Complete tasks independently or as part of a team at local solar sites.
  • Operate and maintain a motor vehicle in compliance with company and insurance requirements.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of commercial or industrial operations and maintenance experience on solar power plants preferred.
  • Preventative maintenance experience on solar utility equipment preferred.
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and installation skills.
  • Experience with inverters, tracker systems, or sub-station equipment such as TMEIC, SMA, Sungrow, Nextracker, or ATI preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Capacity to work outdoors in ambient temperatures.
  • Availability for weekends, holidays, and on-call service via telephone or text.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.
  • Compliance with OSHA standards.
