Solar Field Service Technician I

This Solar Field Service Technician I role at Pearce Services is based in Tehachapi, California, and focuses exclusively on utility-scale ground-mount solar farms. The position requires 100% travel to solar plant sites for troubleshooting, repair, and operations and maintenance work on inverters, combiner boxes, and related equipment. Pearce Services provides asset management and technical services for renewable energy infrastructure across North America.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair utility-scale solar systems including inverters, combiner boxes, and string circuits
• Perform LOTO, IV curve tracing, megger/insulation testing, and IR scans
• Conduct operations and maintenance on utility-scale solar plants
• Inspect completed work to verify compliance with quality and safety standards
• Enforce OSHA and NFPA 70E safety requirements on site
• Diagnose and resolve system issues in the field
• Complete work orders, service logs, and required documentation
• Operate and maintain company vehicle and tools

Requirements

• 1-2+ years of utility-scale solar experience on solar farms or ground-mount systems
• Experience working on megawatt-scale PV systems
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and repair skills on inverters, DC systems, and power electronics
• Experience performing solar O&M and maintenance work
• Working knowledge of OSHA and NFPA 70E safety standards
• Experience using multimeters, meggers, amp clamps, and testing equipment
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
• Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, and dust
